The Sandoval County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) utilizes a state-of-the-art emergency management system that coordinates effective use of county, state and federal resources to protect the lives and health of Sandoval County citizens and visitors from the effects of natural or human-caused disasters, including acts of terrorism.
The county’s EOC is where upper management gathers to determine the best course of action during significant incidents or times of disaster. County staff may also respond to the scene to serve as an interagency liaison, and coordinate state or federal agency support requests.
Additionally, the EOC is organized on the guidelines of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as outlined in the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and structured following the Incident Command System (ICS). These principles ensure maximum operational effectiveness between all levels of government.
If needed, the county also can bring in a large collection of equipment, including communication tools, support vehicles, generators, shelters, etc. All County support personnel can, through mutual aid agreements and organizations, coordinate logistics support, request special task forces, and deploy search and rescue teams.
The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is located at 1500 Idalia Road, Building C, Bernalillo, NM 87004
