The federal government initially committed more than $9.89 million for the program as part of pandemic relief efforts with funding to cover the cost of summer internships for New Mexico high school students in 2021 and 2022. The Goal is to provide high school students and at-risk youth with the opportunity to participate in high-quality internships (20 hours per week for 6 weeks) with government agencies and community organizations, including county, tribal, and/or municipal placements.
About the Program
The purpose of the Summer Internship Program is to support New Mexico communities in the cost of internships for current high school students who work at placements in tribal, county, or municipal government.
