Bernalillo, N.M., October 26, 2022 — Shawn Perry-Turner has joined the County as its Director of Marketing and Communications. In this newly-created position, she is in charge of developing and managing all aspects related to the County’s marketing and communications efforts. She also serves as the Public Information Officer (PIO).

In making this announcement, Wayne Johnson, County Manager, said, “We are excited to have Shawn Perry-Turner on our team as she brings extensive marketing and communications and business development expertise and experience to the job from both the public and private sectors. Her background includes work in the construction, energy, engineering, healthcare, professional services, and tourism industries—all of which are services that the County provides.” Johnson further explained that “Sandoval County is the fastest-growing county in New Mexico, and to better meet the needs of our residents, we are making appropriate changes to our operations. Creating a Director of Marketing and Communications role is one of them.”

Perry-Turner worked for Bernalillo County from 2013 to 2020 for the Economic Development Department and the Office of Community Engagement and Outreach. Most recently, she held the position of Business Development Navigator for a senior healthcare program. Prior professional experience in New Mexico includes positions in broadcast, executive recruiting, marketing, and media sales, and she has earned multiple awards for performance achievement in business development from both national and international firms.

Perry-Turner moved to New Mexico in 1999 from New Jersey. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University. A current member of the Albuquerque Job Corps Business Office Technology Committee, she has served on committees and boards of several local professional and volunteer organizations over the past 20 years.
