Sandoval County Hires Daniel J. Beaman as Director of Planning and Zoning

Bernalillo, NM, December 7, 2023—Daniel J. Beaman has been hired by Sandoval County as Director of Planning and Zoning. All zoning code enforcement, land use, subdivision platting, and development review activities in the unincorporated areas of the County are handled by Planning and Zoning. Also included in this department is the Real Property section, which manages all jurisdictional Real Estate activities, and the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) section, responsible for mapping products and assigning addresses to properties.

In making this announcement, Wayne Johnson, County Manager, said, “As the fastest growing County in New Mexico, prudent oversight in combination with a vision for the future is critical for both the short-term and long-term goals of the County’s landscape and business scape. Dan Beaman brings the required experience and expertise in local government Planning and Zoning and Economic Development to the County as we continue to sustain and develop our residential, commercial, and industrial areas.”

Most recently, Beaman worked at Bernalillo County for more than 21 years. His last position was as a Special Projects Coordinator for Economic Development. There his focus was zoning and entitlement, land development, special permitting, and other land-use issues. Before that, he held positions of increasing responsibility in that county’s Planning and Zoning department. While serving in the Air Force, Beaman worked in Information Management. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Mexico with concentrations in geography, political science, and community and regional planning. Beaman and his wife live in northern Central New Mexico.
