County officials cut ribbon at new animal shelter

Sandoval County Elected Officials, along with County staff, attended a ribbon cutting at the new Sandoval County Animal Shelter on February 10, 2021. The animal shelter is located on the north end of the Sandoval County Administration campus. The sheriff’s office, which is the animal-control authority in Sandoval County, will maintain the operations at the shelter in conjunction with the Community Services Department.

This new high-quality, climate-controlled tiny shelter is meant to house animals on a short-term basis before they’re returned to an owner or transferred to a permanent facility.

Those in attendance included Vice-Chair Michael Meek, Commissioner Katherine Bruch, Commissioner Jay Block, Sandoval County Sheriff Jesse James Casaus, County Manager Wayne Johnson, and Community Services Director Anne Ryan.
