The Secretary of State is offering training for Candidates for the upcoming 2025 Regular Local Election. This is a great opportunity to find out everything you need to know about running for office.

The New Mexico Secretary of State’s Office will offer two virtual trainings in Summer 2025 for candidates running for office in the 2025 Regular Local Election (Tuesday, November 4, 2025).

These trainings are meant for anyone thinking about running for an office that will appear on the Regular Local Election ballot.
These trainings will cover everything RLE candidates need to know about how to interact with our Office during the election, how to qualify for the ballot, and how to file required reports during your candidacy. -
WHAT: Virtual candidate training for prospective Regular Local Election candidates
WHERE: Online (through Microsoft Teams) – link provided upon RSVP
WHEN: Either 11am on July 29th, 2025 or 1pm on August 7th, 2025 (These trainings are duplicates. Interested participant only needs to RSVP for either one.)For RSVP to either of these trainings, please email BC Nguyen at bc.nguyen@sos.nm.gov. Training link will be sent out in July to all who have RSVP-ed.

- County Commission Chambers on 3rd floor of the Admin Bldg., from 9 am - 5 pm
- What to File - Forms
- September 2, 2025
- Deadline for candidates to withdraw their candidacy. This is also the filing day for write-in candidates.
- Bureau of Elections Office from 9 am - 5 pm
- September 5, 2025
- Ballots are final, and all qualified candidates are notified how they will appear on the ballot.
- September 20, 2025
- Electronic Transmission System (ETS) ballots are sent out to Federal Qualified Elector (FQE) voters.
- October 7, 2025
- Clerks begin mailing absentee ballots to voters who have requested them Absentee Voting - Sandoval County (sandovalcountynm.gov)
- Books close for online and paper voter registration. Register To Vote - Sandoval County (sandovalcountynm.gov)
- Early Voting and Same Day Registration (SDR) at the Clerk’s Annex begins, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Same Day Voter Registration (SDR) - Sandoval County (sandovalcountynm.gov)
