National Take Back Day, April 27, 2019

Sandoval County is once again participating in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This special event, co-hosted by the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), addresses a crucial public safety and public health issue.

According to a national survey on drug use and health, 6 million Americans misuse controlled prescription drugs each year. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day provides an opportunity for Sandoval County residents to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths by providing drop off points for proper disposal of prescription medications that are no longer needed or are expired.
