Sheriff’s Department Supporting Public Safety Day

The Sandoval County Sheriff’s Department will be among dozens of law enforcement agencies gathering in the Intel parking lot on Saturday, May 16, 2015 for the Public Safety Day and Recruitment Event.

This is a chance for citizens to meet with law enforcement personnel in a relaxed atmosphere to learn more about how these agencies serve the community. It’s also a chance for anyone aspiring to be a law enforcement officer to talk with hiring officials from multiple agencies.

Attractions for the public will include displays of public safety vehicles, as well as services for citizens to improve their personal safety such as child ID kits and window etchings on vehicle windows to help prevent theft. Other expected attendees include:

• The Albuquerque Batmobile
• Friends of Smokey Bear
• New Mexico Fire and Police Bagpipes.

More than 70 federal, state and local public safety agencies are expected to display equipment and provide information about their respective departments. The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Intel parking lot at NM 528 and 19th Ave. in Rio Rancho. The event is free and open to the public.
