Serve Your Community: Join the Sandoval County Health Council

The Sandoval County Health Council is seeking new members. The health council is a board of 15 community volunteers who meet throughout the year with a goal of identifying gaps in health care services throughout Sandoval County.

In 2015, the council published the Sandoval County Community Health Assessment, a comprehensive report on the state of county residents’ health and the systems in place for maintaining that health. The report also pinpointed opportunities for improving the county’s ecosystem in ways that will make residents healthier.

Seven health council members will be completing their terms at the end of 2015, which is why new members are being sought.

The council is particularly in need of members who understand the health care needs of underserved groups such as low-income residents, people dealing with mental health or substance issues, or Native American families.

Council members are required to attend four quarterly meetings per year, as well as subcommittee meetings that may occur monthly.

If you’d like to serve your community as a member of the Sandoval County Health Council, fill out the online application by October 30, 2015.
