Sheriff’s Office Hosts Take Back Day Event Oct. 27

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is October 27th and addresses a crucial public safety and public health issue. According to the 2016 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 6.2 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.

The DEA’s Take Back Day events provide an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths by allowing folks to safely turn in their unused prescription drugs for appropriate disposal.

The Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a Take Back Day event on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 13th Judicial District Courthouse. The courthouse is located on the Sandoval County Administration campus at 1500 Idalia Road, Bernalillo, NM 87004. Once you turn into the Plaza, make a right at the stop sign for the courthouse building. Parking is plentiful and free.

Residents are encouraged to bring their unused prescription medications so they can be disposed of properly and we can assist to reduce drug abuse.
