New District 1 Commissioner to be sworn-in

The new county commissioner for District 1 is scheduled to be sworn in on Thursday, Sept.7, 2017. The ceremony will take place at 5:50 PM in the county commission chambers.

New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez appointed James Holden-Rhodes to the county comiision on August 28, 2017.

Holden-Rhodes retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel after 31 years of military service in the U.S. Marine Corps and Army. He earned a Master of Public Administration degree and a Ph.D. in public policy from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

Because he was appointed to complete the term of a commissioner who resigned from the seat, Holden-Rhodes will serve as District 1 Commissioner until the next election, which is scheduled for November 2018. He will be eligible to run for a full term during that election.

The swearing-in ceremony will be followed by a county commission meeting. An agenda for the ceremony be downloaded here.
