Scam Alert: Possible Bail Bond Scam

The Sandoval County Detention Center has been made aware of a possible scam targeting the senior community. It has been reported to their staff that some seniors are being told that a loved one is in jail and needs a bail bond or bail posted. The seniors are then instructed to wire money to a different state.

Sandoval County and the Sandoval County Detention Center are warning the community about this possible scam. You are encouraged to verify all claims made to you by any organization that a loved one is in jail and bail needs to be posted. You may do so by calling the jail/detention center mentioned in the notice to verify that the inmate is at the facility and verify their status.

If you feel you were the victim of a scam like this or may have been targeted, you are encouraged to report it to your local law enforcement agency and/or file a police report.
