Our Department was formed in 2005 by creating the Sandoval County Fire Department from nine previously separate volunteer fire departments. Each of the nine departments are known as Districts today and are under the day to day supervision of a volunteer district chief. SCFD has approximately 264 volunteers, 12 field career firefighters, 17 PRN firefighters, an Emergency Communications Administrator, an Assistant Fire Chief, three Deputy Fire Chiefs, and a County Fire Chief. The Department covers 3700 square miles through 8 fire districts and 20 fire stations. Our career firefighters are assigned to the Southern part of the County and provide both fire suppression, and advanced level emergency medical services.
