County’s El Zocalo Center hosting rural economic development forum

Friday, December 8, 2017

The last in a series of forums focusing on economic development in rural central New Mexico communities will take place in Bernalillo on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017.

This forum will focus on the challenges, barriers, smart goals, and assets to formulate a concise framework for the drafting of a regional economic development plan. The meeting is part of a collaborative effort among officials from Sandoval, Los Alamos and Bernalillo Counties.

These counties are participating in the Stronger Economies Together (SET) program, a national effort sponsored by the US Department of Agriculture to accelerate economic growth in rural communities. Its goal is to have small communities pool resources to develop plans for spurring economic growth across an entire region rather than have those communities—some of which are isolated geographically—continually try to tackle economic development alone.

Forums already have been held in Bernalillo and Los Alamos Counties. The December 14th forum will take place from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the El Zocalo Event Center 264 Camino Del Pueblo in Bernalillo.

Call 505-867-8687 for information or directions.  Ample parking is available on the west side of the building.  Light refreshments will be served.
